NOTICE – The next meeting of the BR RC Club will be Tuesday Aug 3rd
at the Greenwell Springs Road Library at 7:00 PM
The cub day fly-in was a big success. There were a lot of planes
as well as spectators. Fun was had by all, and Blackie’s Jambalaya was
excellent as always. The RedStick club fly-in also had a good turn out.
The club was well represented as several of our members were there.
Preparations are still on going for the big bird fly-in. Mike
is getting flyers together to invite more flyers. There was a question
as to whether the club wants to do some advertising of the big bird in
order to get more spectators and possible new members. The RedStick
club fly-in was written up in the Friday’s fun section of the Advocate
newspaper. I would not have known about the rescheduling if I did
not see the article. I think advertising the big bird fly-in
would benefit the club. If you have an opinion on this come to the
meeting and let us here from you. Mike is doing a great job in trying
to promote both the fly-in and the sport of model aeronautics.
With the afternoon showers that we had been getting the grounds crew have had their hands full. They have been doing an excellent job on keeping the grass cut despite the rains and fast growth it causes. We need to thank them a lot, with out this group there would be no field.
Mickey Genre gave a presentation on ‘A lot About Nothing’ at the last meeting. From the title I did not know what to expect. He explained the origin of a lot of aeronautic terms. Quite a few were brought back from the French during World War II. This was very interesting and quite informative.
We are still having the presentations after the meeting. If you have something you want to present then by all means let us know. The last list I saw was getting short.
